A Venue Guide

I am playing at Ottawa Piano Festival

The festival is at Woodroffe United Church

I can get there by personal vehicle or by public transportation.

When I arrive, I will come through the doors marked "North Entrance"

When I enter and go up the stairs

down the hall

and up the ramp

When I arrive at the check in desk, I will tell the friendly volunteer my name and give them the music I will be playing

I will bring my music marked with my name, and tell the volunteer the order I will play my pieces in

Once I have checked in and handed in my music, I will find a seat and wait my turn to play

While I wait my turn to play, I will be a supportive audience member by clapping after their performance & waiting quietly for my turn

When it's my turn to play, a volunteer will call my name. I will walk up the ramp to the piano.

I can take my time to adjust the bench just the way I need it.

Before I play, I will take a deep breath. When I feel ready, I can start playing my pieces.

If I make a mistake, that is ok. I can keep going and do my best.

When I finish, I will take a big bow, walk down the stairs, and go back to my seat.

The friendly judges will write some comments about my performing so I can become a better pianist.

When everyone is done performing, a volunteer will call all the performers to the front. Everyone will applaud the musicians and the volunteers will hand me my music and certificate.

I can feel proud of my performance!
